She's passionate about the history of the American frontier, its Native Tribes and Peoples, and wildlife. Born in Missouri, she was raised in Kansas City, a mere 20 minutes from the town of Independence, where the Westward trails began. Since marrying a military man, she has lived in Mississippi (twice!), California, the island of Guam, and most recently, Virginia. She loves the outdoors, and has camped and hiked in 18 national parks. Her bucket list is to hike in each and every National Park in the US with her family.
