This list of potential triggers will give away a few minor plot points for Along the Trail. I've included "romantic interludes" at the end for parents who want to keep the reading totally PG for younger readers.
There were many hazards and dangers that westward travelers faced on the overland trails. It is said that 1 in 10 people died along the route. Deaths do occur in the story of Along the Trail - I tried to represent historically accurate deaths, appropriate for the time period & setting. But a couple may be upsetting to some people, which is why I wanted to list them here.
* Successful suicide of a seriously injured (minor secondary) 16 year-old character - heard/discussed by main characters - suicide act not witnessed or depicted on the page:

* Death of mother during labor and death of her unborn child (minor secondary characters) - heard/discussed by main characters - not depicted on the page in "real time," but discussed in some detail later by a character who witnessed it:

* Closed-door bedroom scene (married couple) - no explicit details, but possibly not suitable for readers under 13 (I'm sure this varies greatly depending on the parent and reading level of the child):
